Over the years, the game of golf has given birth to some notable rivalries. However, the one that continues to top the list is that of Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods. Ever since the 90s, the two have been each other’s greatest rivals when having the clubs in hand. However, despite a close to 3-decade rivalry, the two have made sure to not let it affect their bond off the golf course.

Walking down memory lane, Mickelson and Woods have been spotted backing each other on various occasions. Yet, they leave no stone unturned when given an opportunity to take light-hearted digs at each other. One such incident took place in 2018 when Mickelson expressed his wish to kick and miss a water bottle placed on Woods’ head.

Considering the legacy of Mickelson, it goes without saying that the ‘lefty’ has been a part of numerous interviews throughout his career. This time was no different. Taking time off from golf, in October 2018, Mickelson headed to an NBA game between Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets.

Enjoying the game, he indulged in a conversation with the crew of the renowned show ‘Inside the NBA’. During the conversation, he opened up about his Taekwondo skills while expressing his will to show them off on Woods. “I’ve been doing taekwondo for 15-16 years so that’s not like that big of a deal. I was trying to get Tiger to put the water bottle on his head and hoping I’d come up just a little bit short,” he said.

Mickelson’s words came up after the crew asked him about his in-fame kick over golfer, Zach Johnson’s head. A couple of weeks before the interview, his fellow countryman Bubba Watson shared a video of Phil Mickelson. In the video, Mickelson was seen successfully kicking off a bottle placed on the head of his Ryder Cup teammate Zach Johnson.
