Why Bryson Dechambeau Has a Love-Hate Relation With Fans

Bryson DeChambeau is one of the more controversial golfers on the PGA Tour. He has had a love-hate relationship with fans since his debut in 2016. He receives an equal amount of hate and love from fans. However, Bryson doesn’t seem perturbed as he continues to stand by what he believes.

The 28-year-old golfer has won eight PGA Tour events and a major championship in his career. However, his playing style has changed substantially since turning pro in 2016. He has muscled up and is trying to overwhelm the golf course with his power game. Over the years, DeChambeau has had decent success on the golf course, along with many controversies.

Why do fans troll Bryson DeChambeau?

Without a doubt, Bryson DeChambeau is one of the top golfers. After Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus, he is the only golfer to have won an NCAA Division 1 title, a U.S. Amateur, and a U.S. Open. Therefore, one can’t question his golfing skills. However, he remains behind these two legends when it comes to his attitude and respecting the course conditions. 

Since the start of his professional career, DeChambeau has received criticism for his slow play. He used to take up plenty of time before playing a shot. Hence, this frustrated not only the golfers but also the fans. 

Furthermore, DeChambeau is known for being a science guy. He has set up his game scientifically, making his style of play slightly unorthodox. He likes to get into minute details, making it time-consuming while on the golf course. Last year, he even had a feud with Brooks Koepka, for which he received plenty of trolling and hate. 

DeChambeau’s decision of joining LIV Golf 

Although, his relations with golfers and fans improved after his incredible performance at the Ryder Cup. However, DeChambeau has caused a dent in it by joining the Saudi-backed rival league. The 2020 U.S. Open Champion has gotten plenty of hate and has been trolled extensively since he announced this decision.

The LIV Golf Invitational Series is paying tremendous money to attract top golfers. Hence, golfers accepting this contract are facing a suspension from the PGA Tour. Yet, DeChambeau signed the LIV Golf contract explaining it to be a business decision.

Meanwhile, there are quite a few people who support Bryson DeChambeau. They see nothing hate-worthy in the 28-year-old’s decision and extended their support to the controversial golfer.
