Legendary baseball player Alex Rodriguez a.k.a A-Rod was robbed on the streets of San Fransisco on Sunday.

Rodriguez was in town to call the Giants’ game against the Philadelphia Phillies for ESPN. He had parked rented car and went for dinner along with the ESPN crew, when burglars broke into his car.

According to San Fransisco Chronicle, someone broke into a vehicle in that location sometime between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. The list of items stolen was known to have included a camera, a laptop, miscellaneous jewelry and a bag, said Officer Adam Lobsinger, a San Francisco police spokesman.

Various sources confirmed that the total value of the stolen goods was around $ 500,000.

It was reported that ESPN had rented a black Nissan sport utility vehicle for Rodriguez and other members of the production staff. The thieves struck while Rodriguez and the other staff members were having dinner at upscale restaurant Marlowe after the broadcast.

According to KPIX 5, Zara Aurelio, the general manager of the restaurant Marlowe, confirmed that Rodriguez and some other ESPN employees ate at the restaurant on Sunday.

At around 10:45 p.m., Aurelio said the group finished eating and went outside.

“That’s when they discovered their car got broken into,” Aurelio said. “We ushered them back in and waited until police arrived.”

San Frasisco supervisor Matt Haney was very disappointed over the incident and urged that it needed to change.

“What we really want to ask people is if you’re visiting the city like Mr. Rodriguez–and we’re sorry, we’re sorry this happened to you–or anybody else…don’t leave expensive stuff in your car because it makes these crimes more likely to happen again and again,” San Francisco supervisor Matt Haney was quoted as saying.

“Most of the time when they break in, they don’t break into a superstar’s car, they break into a regular person in San Francisco who now has to spend 500 bucks to replace their window. It’s a huge hassle, it’s expensive, it’s a tax on people who live here and it’s something we need to change.”
