”He Isn’t Available for the West Indies Series”: BCCI Official on MS Dhoni

Former India captain MS Dhoni certainly knows how to be in the limelight always – be it for his on-field skills or his time away from the game. Dhoni was brought into reference many times – like the chants of Dhoni when Rishabh Pant missed a stumping or his impact on Deepak Chahar when he took a hat trick in the T20I game again Bangladesh.

While everyone started speculating about his retirement from International Cricket, veteran Indian wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni left everyone in surprise with his return to the training after a long period.

He had taken an indefinite break from the game since India’s defeat in the semi-final against New Zealand in England in the ICC World Cup earlier this year. Later he made himself unavailable owing to his to military duties and other personal reasons as well – which has been constantly raising the questions of former captain’s retirement also.

However, Dhoni is now back in the circuit as he was seen at the nets in his hometown Ranchi, while having a net session at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association Stadium, Ranchi on Thursday, November 14.

While his return raised hopes in every one of a possible comeback, MS Dhoni has once again made himself unavailable for the upcoming limited-overs series against the West Indies next month at home. A BCCI official confirmed the news on Friday, November 15, “He isn’t available for the West Indies series.”

However, the unavailability of MS Dhoni for the upcoming three T20Is and as many ODIs against West Indies which will begin on December 6 in Mumbai, has put a question mark on his future again.

Along with this, the fact is still not clear whether the stalwart of Indian cricket will play in the upcoming World T20 in 2020 or not, as the chief selector MSK Prasad has already said that they have moved on from the veteran wicket-keeper batsman. They are giving chances to youngsters a lot, especially Rishabh Pant who has become the first choice wicket-keeper in the absence of Dhoni.
