Benoit Paire and Stan Wawrinka are best pals. They crack jokes at each other and sometimes have bizarre moments when they are together.

During the tennis hiatus, both of them have had several live video sessions on social media and they have been a treat to watch. Due to this both of them ended up revealing funny insider information that was unknown to the public.

But currently, Wawrinka is nowhere close to fitness and Paire is participating in the Ultimate Tennis Showdown(UTS). It’s a league started by Patrick Mouratoglou to make tennis more appealing to the youth and give fans tennis action during this quarantine period.

Paire had an unsuccessful tournament finishing 9th in the table and winning just two matches. He played his last group match on Saturday against Richard Gasquet. And he lost 3-1 to his French counterpart.

“I am not young” – Stan Wawrinka to Benoit Paire

After the match, Paire was asked by EssentiallySports reporter about his pal Wawrinka and whether he asked the Swiss to join UTS.

“Yes, of course, But he was not ready to play some matches. And he told me it’s not easy if I am not fit enough, I am not young. So he needs a little bit more time to be fit and to be ready to play matches.” Paire said.

“He should be fit, but he thinks he needs more rest and more practice before coming on matches. And I think if he needs time he will take it. Honestly, we have some good tournaments coming so he wanna play good and he wanna be 100 %.” he added

Wawrinka has had injury issues and so he will be slowly coming back to the court to join Paire. At the end of 2019, Paire and Wawrinka were playing some tournaments as doubles and had a good understanding on the court too.

Paire is also among the majority of players who are unsure of when to start competitive tennis. They all love tennis but all of them have safety as a priority and so they will assess the situation in August to decide their schedule.
