You’d think that this would stop at some point, right? Back in 2014, a disastrous incident took place for the people of Marysville. 15-year-old Jaylen Fryberg took 5 lives during a mass shooting at Marysville Pilchuck High. The entire incident also left 4 people fatally wounded. Through investigation, it was found that Raymond Fryberg (Jaylen’s father) illegally purchased and owned the weapon that was used during that mass shooting.
Fast forward 10 years, a memorial walk is set to take place on the grounds of Marysville Pilchuck High to remember and honor the ones who passed away during that incident. However, this good initiative comes packaged with a very unfortunate incident. Scott Sands 🇺🇸 #iHeartRadio took to X to share a report on a recent incident that happened during a high school football homecoming game. “3 Killed In Mass Shooting,” Scott Sands mentioned in the caption of their post.

The incident took place in Lexington, Mississippi. During the early hours of October 19th, a 19-year-old and a 25-year-old lost their lives during the shooting. Another 8 people were injured during the incident and had to be airlifted to nearby hospitals.
“It was chaos,” Holmes County Sheriff Willie March mentioned during an interview. The root cause of the shooting is still not clear. Current reports have noted that a fight had broken out between a few young men over some personal “beef.”

Southwind High making the right decision
Southwind High principal John Bush made a clear statement that moving the presence of a parent is compulsory for any student attending the home football or basketball game. This decision was promoted because a serious fight had broken out during the Southwind High vs Overton High game.

Not only that. A few days before this incident, another serious one took place on October 17th. When a few students got into a disagreement at Crock Pot 2 (a local hangout spot for Southwind High students), a parent allegedly pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot. Another problem that happened at Southwind a month before was a 15-year-old kid threatening to “shoot up” the school.
The accused, who has been arrested as of now, made various phone calls to the school and even took to his Instagram account to post the threats online. This caused all the schools in the area to enter a “soft lockdown.”
