He supported the soccer club FC Basel and the Swiss national team while growing up. He also attributes his hand-eye coordination to the varied sports he participated in as a kid, such as basketball and badminton.

On April 11, 2009, they tied the knot at the Wenkenhof Villa in Riehen, close to Basel, in the presence of a select number of dear friends and family. Rolex is one of Roger Federer's oldest sponsors. The watch company struck a deal with Federer worth approximately $15 million. He also has tie-ups with major companies such as the Japanese clothing company Uniqlo, and Swiss companies like Credit Suisse, Lindt, and Sunrise Communications.

Federer's deal with Uniqlo is reportedly worth almost $300 million according to ESPN and the Italian tennis journalist Vincenzo Martucci from Sports Senators. He is also sponsored by the sports manufacturing company Wilson and the luxury and sports car brand- Mercedes-Benz. He also has deals with Louis Vuitton and Switzerland Tourism.

Roger Federer stopped being sponsored by Nike in 2019. Uniqlo approached the former number 1 to sponsor him for clothes. However, he still wore Nike shoes without being sponsored. Eventually, Federer discovered the Swiss shoe company, On. He first found out about the company when he saw his wife wearing them. Later, Federer would see people on the streets of Switzerland donning shoes made by On.

He eventually wore the shoes in training and loved them. Federer approached the board of directors of On and signed a deal with them which included a 3% stake in the company. With Federer on board, On was launched into the mainstream. The company reported immense growth in 2021.

Roger Federer was suffering from an injury on his right knee and he underwent surgery for the same in February 2020. He then underwent another knee surgery in June and ended his 2020 season.

Federer's desire to return to the Tour with the Australian Open in 2021 had to, unfortunately, be pushed aside as he didn't have enough time for recovery. The Swiss star made a comeback at the 2021 French Open, followed by a quarter-final run at the Wimbledon Championships.
