Pakistan has done well in England, in the past. The team conquered the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in England. Pakistan entered the ICC Champions Trophy as an underdog team. The side started their first ICC Champions Trophy campaign with a one-sided defeat against India. However, the team came back into the tournament, beating the hosts, England in the semi-finals for a rematch with India in the finals.

India was the favourite to win the finals as they had defeated Pakistan quite comfortably in their first match. However, Pakistan came out aggressively and defeated India in one of their best wins against India to wrest the Champions Trophy.
