ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Pakistan World Cup Squad

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is just around the corner and the Pakistan team will be eager to add a second trophy to their repertoire. The ICC Cricket World Cup is one of the biggest cricketing events in the world. This year’s World Cup is the 12th edition of the tournament since 1975. The venue for the 2019 edition is England and Wales, whereas, in 2015, it was held in Australia and New Zealand. That year, Pakistan made it a far as the quarterfinals, losing to eventual champions, Australia.

Pakistan team’s World Cup History

Coming to the Pakistani team, the nation has clinched one ICC Cricket World Cup. Pakistan sealed Cricket World Cup glory back in 1992, defeating England in the final. Prior to their 1992 triumph, they reached the semifinals on three occasions in a row, and again in 2011. The highest they have ever been was when they were the runners up in 1999.

Now, in the 2019 edition, Pakistan are on a mission to add a second trophy to accompany their 1992 trophy.


The 15-member Pakistan World Cup 2019 squad for the Cricket World Cup was announced a while ago, but they too have been besieged by injury. To be precise, Mohammad Amir picked up an injury. However, he was still called up to World Cup 2019 team. Now, in the wake of a series of poor performances, the PCB are in a fix.

Captain and Vice Captain

Sarfaraz Ahmed captains the squad of Pakistan players in the World Cup 2019. The Vice Captain will be Babar Azam, and they will be eager to bring back home a 2nd trophy.


The Pakistan team for the World Cup 2019 has a decent batting lineup of Azam, Fakhar  Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Abid Ali and Haris Sohail.


Their main pick for wicketkeeper is their captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed, but interestingly there is no backup keeper.


There are five allrounders in the 15-member Pakistan squad for the World Cup 2019 list. In their team, they have veteran, Shoaib Malik, Mohammed Hafeez, Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim and Faheem Ashraf.


In the Pakistan cricket team, there are quite a few bowling options. The Men in Green has a bowling attack comprising of Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi, Junaid Khan and Mohammad Hasnain.


In conclusion, the Pakistan team possesses a reasonably balanced unit. However, they have a good mix of youth and experience, with Mohammed Hafeez and Shoaib Malik being the oldest.
