The ICC Cricket World Cup is one of the biggest events on the cricket calendar. Following each tournament, all teams receive some prize money for participation. Naturally, the winners of the World Cup earn the lion’s share. The rest of the teams also earn a fair amount for their services. For the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, the purse has increased to $4 million.

On the outside, it may not seem like much, given how much the cricket players get paid, in addition to endorsements. However, $4 million is the highest amount of prize money in the history of the game. The total purse is $10 million, with the runners up receiving two million, and the rest of the semifinalist teams receiving $800,000.

As an additional incentive, there is a prize for winning each match in the preliminary round-robin tournament. Those matches are valued at $40,000 per game, which is a hefty amount.

It gets better though, once the round robin stage is cleared. The teams will then be awarded a bonus of $100,000.

However, the $4 million prize for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 winners, is not much higher in comparison with the recently concluded IPL 2019. Over there, the triumphant Mumbai Indians team won $2.9 million out of a total pot of $7.2 million.

The World Cup 2019 is set to commence on the 30 of May, with a number of warm up matches before the extravaganza begins. Australia come into the tournament as the defending champions and one of the favorites.

The hosts, England will also be a strong contender, as will the Indian cricket team. All matches will be taking place across several venues in England and Wales. The England team certainly has the home advantage. However, all the remaining teams will not let them rest easy. One thing is for sure, all 10 teams will have their eyes on the prize.
