After a blistering start to his international career, Mayank Agarwal finds himself in the ICC’s top 10 Test batsmen for the first time. He earlier earned a 11th spot after his double century in the first test against Bangladesh. After the second test, he goes up one more position to occupy the 10 place with rating points of 700.
England all-rounder Ben Stokes also earned his place in the top 10 after his exploits against New Zealand although in a losing cause. He jumped up three places to sit in the ninth place, four points more than Mayank.
Indian captain Virat Kohli‘s century in the second test match against Bangladesh saw himself move to three points shy of Steve Smith’s 931 points at the top. Two other Indians in the list include Cheteshwar Pujara at fourth and Ajinkya Rahane just below him.
ICC Top 10 Test Batsmen-
The bowler’s rankings, which is topped by Australia’s Pat Cummins, consists of two Indians- Jasprit Bumrah at fifth and Ravichandran Ashwin level at ninth along with Josh Hazlewood. Indian fast bowlers Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav achieved career-high rating points of 716 (17th place) and 672 (21st place) respectively. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Niel Wagner jumped up four places to occupy the third position.
