ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020: Shah Rukh Khan to Attract Crowds?

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to come back next year. The tournament is set in Australia from February 21 to March 8 in 2020. In an attempt to maximise the crowd for the tournament, ICC T20 World Cup has asked Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan to attend the tournament as a crowd puller. In a comment from  the Instragam account of T20 World Cup, they said that they are trying to break the World record for the highest attendance for a women’s sporting event.

Shah Rukh Khan, you should stop by in February next year for the Women’s World stand alone T20 World Cup? We are trying to break the World Record for the highest Women’s sporting attendance,” the comment from the T20 World Cup read.

The 2020 edition of the women’s stand alone T20 tournament will be the seventh, with ten teams participating in it. The top eight teams based on the finishing positions of the 2018 ICC Women’s World T20 have automatically qualified for the event, while two more teams will come from a qualifying tournament.

Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies are the top 8 eight teams, while two teams from eight associate nations will qualify for the tournament from qualifiers later this year.

Venues-

Defending champions Australia will be hosting the 2020 ICC Women’s World T20. The tournament will be played in six venues across Australia, with the two semi-finals in Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Sydney and the finals at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Melbourne.

While England won the inaugural edition in their own backyard in 2009, Australia won four out of the next five editions. West Indies are the only other team to have won the tournament in 2016 in India.

The four time champion and the home team, Australia will start the tournament as favourites while England and India might feel they have their chances.
