Ahead of their next game against Sri Lanka on Tuesday in the ongoing ICC World Cup, Bangladesh faced a big blow as their key player Shakib Al Hasan was taken to the hospital for scans. He has sustained the injury during their game against England.

“Bangladesh allrounder Shakib Al Hasan suffered a left thigh strain while batting during the ICC Cricket World Cup match against England in Cardiff. He underwent a precautionary scan today in Bristol. We are waiting on a specialist assessment and report,” said Thihan Chandramohan, Bangladesh’s physio on Monday, June 10.

On the other hand, Bangladesh selector Habibul Bashar also wasn’t sure about Shakib’s participation in the game.

”We have sent him for a scan as he had received some pain on his gluts during the game against England,” Bashar said on Monday. “We can know about it in detail after receiving the scan report but at the present it seems his participation is somewhat 50-50,” Bashar further added.

Shakib Al Hasan has been in great form in the ongoing tournament where he scored two half-centuries and a century already. He has done well with the ball as well. If the injury keeps him out of the squad, it will be a massive blow for his team as he plays the key role for his side.

However, Shakib has been having an injury concern for the last couple of months where the latest one was during the tri-nation in Ireland where he didn’t feature in the final due to the back pain.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh are all set to play with all their strengths to get back to winning zone against Sri Lanka at Bristol on Tuesday. Though they started the tournament with a convincing 21-run win over South Africa, they lost their next two games against New Zealand and England respectively.
