Bollywood legend Sunil Shetty recently expressed his opinion on the return of former Indian captain MS Dhoni in the National team. Sunil Shetty is passionate about cricket and has a lot of knowledge about the game.

International cricketer MS Dhoni has been absent from the match field from July 2019. He last played for India in the semi-final match of World Cup 2019 against New Zealand. Since then neither he has announced his retirement nor made himself available for the selection in the team.

In an interview with cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra, Sunil Shetty revealed about the batsmen he would like to see in the Indian Squad of T20 World Cup. The T20 World Cup is scheduled in October-November in Australia.

MS Dhoni will play: Sunil Shetty

The veteran actor picked the likes of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma as the potential opening batsmen. Further, he chose India’s skipper Virat Kohli for the third position. For the crucial Number 4 spot, Shetty selected Shreyas Iyer stating that he has done a good job at this batting position till now.

In the absence of MS Dhoni, India has two options for the batsman-wicketkeeper slot- Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson. However, Sunil Shetty believes that MS Dhoni will make a comeback in the Indian team and will play in the world cup.

Shetty said, “Between Pant and Samson, I see MS Dhoni and only MS Dhoni for the World Cup. I feel he is getting fit out there and he will be back in a very very big way. Players from across the world feel that if Dhoni is there, it’s a strong team. Dhoni will play, he will score in the IPL,”

Though the actor didn’t select Pant and Samson, he backed them saying that both are very talented. He added that both the youngsters are very talented and they just need to polish their skills.

Sunil Shetty signed off saying, “Pant and Samson are very talented. Samson hasn’t got his chances. Pant is supremely talented but he needs to lose 4-5 kg of weight. It’s a positive thing I mean to say, but as far as wellness and fitness goes, there’s a difference in movement,”
