Ever since then, Biles has looked much happier without all the pressure. Now she reveals, she might not continue the sport after all.

World Champion Simone Biles might quit gymnastics

In an exclusive interview with MARCA, Biles talked about the numerous struggles she has been through in this year and how she overcame them.

Before she went for Tokyo 2020, Biles could never imagine she would only walk away with 2 medals. But now, she is proud of just walking away in that moment. She inspired and encouraged so many other athletes to speak up about their own struggles, and that is worth much more than the medals.

Here she revealed rather breaking news, saying that she might not be back to do gymnastics after all.

The star gymnast is currently on a break from gymnastics. This break has proved to be really good for her, allowing her to get back control of her life. The break has also proved good for her mental health, letting Biles heal.

“What’s next in my career right now is I’m obviously on a break. So, we have to see,” said Biles.

She hasn’t quite thought about the future and just wants to take time and relax with her friends and family.

“I’m not sure if I’ll continue with the sport. Right now, I think it’s just relaxing taking quality time with family and with friends and just being normal for once.”

All her life, Biles has spent hours and hours training and practicing, hardly getting any time off to spend with her friends and family. She never got to have a normal college life. Right now, this is all the athlete wants, to have a normal life void of all the pressure and stress.

It’s sad: Biles talks about mental health being a taboo topic

When Simone Biles publicly declared mental health as the prime reason for her not competing anymore, she shocked as well as inspired a thousand others.

Many other athletes now had the courage to talk about how they were all going through so much of struggles and could never speak about it. She brought the topic out, making people realize there were others like them.

However, Biles feels it’s equally sad that this topic has been silenced for so many years.

“To have that topic come to the forefront is really great, but it’s sad that it’s been silenced and forgotten for so many years and not as cared about,” said Biles.
