During the first day of ongoing second Test between India and Bangladesh at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, India’s opening batsman Rohit Sharma showed a great display of his beautiful fielding effort by taking a catch to dismiss Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque.
It took place on the first delivery of the 11th over when Mominul Haque was seen playing against India speedster Umesh Yadav. His delivery which was looking to come in but left the left-hand batsman with utter surprise. As he got the outside edge, it is expected that the catch would be taken by the player who is fielding at the first slip.
However, Rohit Sharma had some other plans in mind. He jumped to his right from the second slip to grab a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss the batsman. His catch left everyone amused, including Indian captain Virat Kohli who was fielding at the first slip at that time. Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the seventh over, Bangladesh captain Haque got out for a seven-ball duck and all thanks go to Rohit Sharma only for the catch.
Having won the toss, Haque chose to bat first. However, his decision was not at all fruitful as Bangladesh lost five wickets within 15 overs. While Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami have picked up a wicket each, Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowler with three wickets so far in this afternoon.
Moreover, both the teams India and Bangladesh are playing their first-ever day-night Test match with the pink ball. The historic Test has been witnessed by many people where BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly left no stone unturned to make it a successful one.
