Shreyas Iyer staked his claim for a permanent place in the Indian T20 side as he made his way to a half century against Bangladesh in the third T20I against Bangladesh on Sunday.

On his way he reached from 31 to 49 in a space of three balls with three well hit sixes. Afif Hossain started the 14th over, bowling to Iyer. The 24-year old hit three straight sixes to get to 49.

Hossain bowled the next one in the block hole- a dot ball managed. Iyer took a single off the next ball to reach his maiden T20 international 50. The over ended with another single from Pant- making it 20 in the 14th.

This came after Bangaladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first. Shafiul Islam drew first blood as Rohit Sharma was bowled for two. Shfiul also soon dismissed Shikhar Dhawan for 19. It was KL Rahul, along with Shreyas Iyer that built a partnership with both of them reaching half centuries.

Rahul scored 52 in 35 balls while Iyer scored 62 off 33 balls. Indian eventually ended the innings at 174 for 5 in their 20 overs.
