Huge expectations revolved around the match since its announcement, as it was the first match at the Barsapara cricket stadium, Guwhati since 2010.

It all seemed good until the toss. Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field first. Indian fans were also excited to experience the return of Shikhar Dhawan and Jasprit Bumrah from their respective injuries. However, it all started dying down as time went on.

As the rain was bit of a stop & go, it eventually came to a stop. But the main problem seemed to have been a damp pitch.

Multiple efforts that were rarely seen to dry a cricket pitch were seen on the night in an attempt to get play underway.

Things like hairdryers and vacuum cleaner were spotted drying the pitch. But two damp spots remained on either side of the pitch.
