Bangladesh’s star and in-form batsman Mohammad Mahmudullah was ruled out of June’s home matches against India after he fractured a finger during practice on Thursday. He left the practice session with a heavily bandaged finger prompting the officials to call Nasir Hossain as a replacement for the only test starting from 10th June 2015.
“Mahmudullah hurt the index finger on his left hand while attempting a catch during training today. X-rays revealed a fracture which usually takes three to four weeks to heal,” team physiotherapist Bayedul Islam told reporters in Dhaka.

His heroics took Bangladesh to their first ever quarterfinals of the 2015 World Cup. He scored 365 runs in 6 innings at an average of 73 including two consecutive hundreds and a fifty and Bangladesh would have fancied to have him in the squad for this all important series. “Mahmudullah will begin his rehab under the BCBs medical team in the next couple of days,” a BCB media release said.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh suffered another scare when one-day captain Mashrafe Mortaza was hurt in a road accident while on his way to the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Dhaka for practice. Mortaza was travelling in a cycle-rickshaw which grazed against a bus and the all-rounder received minor injuries on both hands. The officials were hopeful that Mortaza will take field.
“He has been given medication and requires dressing on a regular basis. We expect him to recover in 7 to 10 days,” Bayedul said.
