Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), one of the franchises of Indian Premier League (IPL) has announced the name of the Head Coach, Brendon McCullum. Former New Zealand captain, McCullum, has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket a couple of days ago. Brendon McCullum has recently turned out in the Global T20 Canada for the Toronto Nationals.

McCullum was associated with the franchise as a player from 2008 to 2010 and again joined in 2012-13. He was a part of the IPL Championship squad in 2012 and Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL from 2016 to 2018. They registered consecutive wins in 2017 and 2018 as well.

After the appointment, Brendon McCullum said, “It’s a great honor to take on this responsibility. The Knight Rider franchises in IPL and CPL have become iconic and have set the standards in franchise cricket. We have fantastic squad in both KKR and TKR and I along with the support staff will be looking to build on the successes both franchises have enjoyed.”

The CEO of KKR, Venky Mysore said, “Brendon has been an integral part of the Knight Riders family for a long time,” Mysore said. “His leadership qualities, honesty, positive and aggressive style, combined with his natural ability to bring the best out of the teams he has been a part of makes him ideally suited to lead both KKR and TKR as a head coach.”
