In this interview, Novak Djokovic talked about how he got into tennis and how it was odd that he played tennis out of all sports. He said,

“I fell in love with tennis when I was 4. My dad bought me a tennis racquet and there were 3 courts in front of my parents’ restaurant. The athletic gene runs in my family so it was no surprise I started playing a sport. But it was odd that I played tennis as my dad, my uncle and my aunt were competitive skiers.”

Tennis players cannot reach the top without the support of their family and Novak is no different. He talked about how his parents hid the sacrifices they made so that he could pursue his dream. He said,

“My parents hid the sacrifices they made pretty well but there were times they could not. I remember one time my dad pulled out a 10 Deutsche Mark bill and said that is all they got. But somehow, my parents found a way cause they were a great team.”

Novak’s story is something that everybody would find amazing but it’s not over just yet. Djokovic wants to end his tennis story in the best possible way by ending up as the GOAT of tennis. To do this, he will have to hold one record – the most Grand Slam titles.

He currently has 17 which is 3 short of Roger Federer’s record of 20. He is probably training extremely hard so that he can beat this record soon.
