After Novak Djokovic defeats Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Madrid finals yesterday, the reunion of the ‘Big Three’ of tennis will be again seen in the Italian clay ATP 1000 Masters event. Roger Federer is yet to add the Rome crown to his colossal collection of ATP titles and Rafael Nadal is still in the quest for his premier title of the season 2019. There are a few ATP and WTA men and women who will be absenting themselves from the Italian Open 2019.
1. Kevin Anderson
The South African, Kevin Anderson’s prevailing right elbow injury has forced him to stay away from the European clay courts, hence we will be missing the Italian Open 2019. A few weeks ago, Anderson called off his 2019 tennis season until the Roland Garros 2019.
2. Andy Murray
The former World Number one, Andy Murray underwent hip surgery in the month of February, which kept bothering him for a while. He’s expected to join the ATP circuit for the grass court season.
3. Milos Raonic
After a classic run at Indian Wells 2019, the Canadian, Milos Raonic just survived a match in Miami. Since then, he has not stepped on clay courts due to his injured knee, and therefore he won’t be seen in action during the Italian Open 2019.
4. Tomas Berdych
The former Wimbledon finalist, Tomas Berdych was given a wildcard for the Mutua Madrid Masters 2019, but the Czech couldn’t use it to his back injury suffering. As the misery continues he will be also absent from the Italian Open 2019.
5. Andrey Rublev
The Russian, Andrey Rublev is having troubling with his right wrist and hence plans to join the circuit after the French Open 2019.
6. Filip Krajinovic
The Serbian, Filip Krajinovic withdrew from Estoril Open 2019 due to a foot injury and he has still not recovered from it, hence he is sidelined from the Italian Open 2019.
7. Jack Sock
The American, Jack Sock injured his index finger while snowboarding during the off-season of tennis and has yet not recuperated from that impairment.
8. Chung Hyeon
The Australian Open 2018 semifinalist, Chung Hyeon has not yet begun with his clay season 2019 as his back injury obstructs him from doing so.
9. Vasek Pospisil
The Canadian, Pospisil operated his herniated disk in the month of January and he is presently under a rehabilitation phase, hence he is sidelined from the Italian Open 2019.
10. Lucas Pouille
The Frenchman, Lucas Pouille pulled out from the Italian Open 2019 due to a foot injury and becomes the latest casualties in Rome.
12. John Isner
The Miami Open 2019 finalist, John Isner suffered a stress fracture in his left foot during the finals against Roger Federer and he has yet not recovered from that injury.
13. Thanasi Kokkinakis
The Australian, Thanasi Kokkinakis has been sidelined from the Italian Open 2019 due to a shoulder injury.
14. Maria Sharapova
The five-time Grand Slam champion, Maria Sharapova has been absent from the WTA circuit since the time she withdrew from the St. Petersburg Open in Russia. Her prolonged right shoulder injury is obstructing her from playing professional tennis.
15. Bianca Andreescu
The Indian Wells 2019 champion, Bianca Andreescu retired in the pre-quarters of Miami due to her shoulder pain. Due to the same reason, she will also skip the Italian Open 2019.
16. Ekaterina Makarova
The Russian, Ekaterina Makarova will not be seen in action during the Italian Open Tennis Tournament 2019.
17. Coco Vandeweghe
The American, Coco Vandeweghe’s foot injury is compelling her to stay away from the professional tennis courts.
18. Sania Mirza
The Indian tennis player, Sania Mirza gave birth to her son Izhaan last year and she’s yet to hit the professional tennis courts after delivering her child.

The Russian, Elina Vesnina delivered a child last year and she is still recovering from her post-pregnancy effects.

Donna Vekic retired in the third set in the pre-quarters of the Madrid Open 2019, due to right hip injury. In Rome, she was drawn to face Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova but withdrew due to the same reason from the Italian Open 2019.
21. Angelique Kerber
World Number three, Angelique Kerber withdrew in the middle of the tournament in Madrid due to her ankle injury, due to the same reason she will not be present at the Italian Open 2019
