Dominic Thiem and Kristina Mladenovic reportedly split a couple of weeks back with them taking down each other’s pictures on their social media handle. In a recent interview Dominic Thiem’s mother Karin spoke about the relationship.
“I really loved Kiki really as a person and a tennis player, she is working very hard and focused on her career. But as you know they are grown up, so it is not my right to speak about it.” She said.
Dominic Thiem gave some reasons for the end of the relationship stating that it was hard to maintain a relationship with the demanding tennis schedule and the travelling from city to city. They will surely be upset right now but they will go right back to focusing on their tennis careers.
In the interview, Karin also spoke about the sacrifices that her whole family made for Dominic Thiem’s tennis career.
“The whole family, grandfathers, grandmothers, aunt , me and my husband adapted our life completely… Our life schedule was adapted to the schedule of the school and practice of our son’s.Dominic’s grandmother sold an apartement in the center of Vienna to give us money to be able to continue Dominic’s way to the top.” She said.
Clearly, all these sacrifices as Dominic Thiem is playing against the best in tennis and has also been successful. The world no. 4 had an amazing year this year winning a Masters title, reaching the finals of the French Open and reaching the finals of the ATP Finals.
Dominic Thiem’s Mother also spoke about the NextGen’s chances in 2020,” Could a new Grand Slam winner come up next year, maybe Dominic? “I hope so.I think the next generation is getting stronger and stronger and it’s my opinion too like Dominic’s that we will see a new Grandslam Champion in 2020. Who it will be?” She said.
Dominic Thiem has been the closest of all NextGen players to win a Grand Slam reaching the finals of the the French Open in 2018 and in 2019. 2020 could possibly be the year he finally wins it.
