In a big blow for the Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of their match against the Chennai Super Kings tonight, skipper Kane Williamson will be unavailable. As it turns out, the Kiwi has been hit by a personal tragedy and is flying back to New Zealand.

He will be missing in action for just tonight’s match and will be back for the showdown with the Rajasthan Royals on 27th of April, according to ESPN CricInfo. But for now, Kane Williamson will be a no show, and understandably so.

So, vice captain, Bhuvneshwar Kumar will take his place as the Sunrisers Hyderabad captain. This will not be Kumar’s first drop as the skipper, as he took over from Kane Williamson when the latter was nursing a shoulder injury.

In the wake of the sudden departure, the race is on to see who can fill in the boots of Kane Williamson tonight. Their options will likely be between Mohammed Nabi and Shakib Al Hasan.

This will possibly hand them an extra spinner in their arsenal against the Chennai Super Kings on their turf. This will be a good move since the MA Chidambaram track is a favoured ground for spinners.

Heading into this IPL 2019 match, the Sunrisers Hyderabad will be quite confident inspite of missing Kane Williamson. This is because, they have won their last two matches, including a home leg against Chennai Super Kings. As of now, the Sunrisers Hyderabad are 4th in the IPL standings and two points behind the Mumbai Indians.

Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings have lost their last two games. This includes a thriller against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, where they lost by one run.
