Set One:

Their match began after a rain delay and the sixth seed, Karen Khachanov held a break in the opening game and that aided him to maintain a lead throughout the set as Sascha committed two double faults in his first game and was broken to love.

The third seed, Zverev was failing to make a return in the set and played a poor game on his second serves.

That gesture after going a break down in the first set

Zverev saved two set points on his serve at 5-3 (40-15) and rammed his racquet again. The German could drive the game to deuce.

However, the World Number eight earned two more chances for the set and finally sealed it on the fifth set point. The Russian took 36 minutes to pull off the set 6-3. Zverev committed 16 unforced errors and couldn’t outdo Karen’s impeccable serves.

Set Two:

The weather did not seem ideal for tennis as the dark clouds were looming over Montreal’s Centre Court. Unstable Zverev progressed to the next set with an intention to bounce back and continue his run on the Canadian court. He also dealt with a loss in the quarters of the doubles discipline earlier today.

Khachanov continued his controlled form of tennis at made a dominant hold at 3-2 in the second set. Sascha seemed helpless and was stranded in the Canadian metropolis as he dropped his serve to love with a double fault and Karen Khachanov led by a set and a break. With Karen’s 5-2 lead their play was accompanied by some drizzle.

While Khachanov was serving for a place in the semifinals, Zverev encountered the first two break points of the match, not allowing the German to take control of the game, Karen served out the match.
