KKR lost the toss and were asked to bowl but eventually that’s what they wanted. Morkel was making a comeback into the competitive form of cricket after a long time. He started off slow and bowled wayward. He even got the wicket of Warner but that was on a no ball. Once Morkel settled, he and Yadav started taking the wickets. Morkel had Dhawan and Yadav had Warner. KKR managed to get a good platform, taking a total of 3 wickets from the PowerPlay overs.

4. Narine Returns and SRH Rebuild

SRH  were reduced to 50/4 at the end of 10 overs. Russell had just got Hooda out. Morgan was trying to settle himself at that stage  and Ojha was new to the crease. The KKR pacers were creating havoc and Narine was making a comeback.  Both Ojha and Morgan played tightly for the first few overs they faced.

Narine bowled tidy but didn’t look threataning. Once both were settled runs started coming in. They were hitting the spinners for boundaries. The duo put on 75 runs from 47 balls until Morkel got Ojha out that too by a fancy catch by Russell and Chawla.                 This partnership did help SRH post a 142 but it wasn’t going to be enough on such a good batting track.

3. The GAUTHAPPA Show

KKR openers Gambhir and Uthappa came in to bat and started well as they usually do. Uthappa playing some good looking drives early on and Gambhir joined the party soon. Gambhir showed his class against the spinners as he gave a masterclass on how to play spin.

The duo put on 92 from 75 balls setting up a great platform for KKR until Ashish Reddy’s slower one got Uthappa LBW. But Gambhir played on and finished the match by playing an unbeaten knock of 90*(60) smashing 13 fours and a six. He played as a leader who wants to set an example for the team.

2. The Mustafizur Yorker…

Well this has to be the biggest Talking Point of the match .  Mustafizur Rehman was called back for another spell when KKR were sailing. Uthappa had been taken by Reddy and Russell was sent to finish the game off quickly. Mustafizur bowled to Russell and WOW that was the moment of the match. A yorker bowled at over 35 had the middle stump on the floor. A Subcontinental bowler getting a Caribbean batsman out on a yorker. Earlier it used to be the other way around. L Shivramkishan summed up ”  Not many batsman in the world could have done any better about that”.  That was a brilliant yorker to see and Wasim akram sitting in the KKR dugout would also have enjoyed that.

Well this edition of the IPL hasn’t been the IPL that it is  generally. No high scoring game yet  has been there barring the two RCB v/s SRH and KKR v/s MI. Today it was expected at Hyderabad  as the conditions given were suitable for Batting.

Yes there can be a reason that a lot of cricket has already been played on these pitches before this IPL that’s why wickets are behaving slow. But as IPL fans we want high scoring and exciting games to happen. Well its just the start of the season i hope it gets better as the tournament moves on.
