As Los Angeles Clippers get ready to face Portland Trail Blazers, Kawhi Leonard talked about his opponent Carmelo Anthony and his time out from NBA.
Melo, as Carmelo Anthony is nicknamed was out of the NBA for more than a season, and Leonard felt it was unfair for the quality of the player that he is.
Houston’s experiment with Anthony failed badly when they signed him at the start of the 2018/19 season and immediately released him. No other team had signed him and he had to remain without game time until the Portland Trail Blazers signed him last month.
Since coming in, the veteran star managed to put up decent performances, on contrary to what many believed.
“I’m just happy for him that he was able to get back in the NBA,” Leonard said after his team’s win over Washington Wizards on Monday as per a video obtained from Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN. “It is well-deserved. I don’t think he was treated the right way, how they left him out there being a future Hall of Famer.”
Leonard’s Clippers will be facing Carmelo Anthony up next in Tuesday’s game againsgt the Trail Blazers after crushing Washington Wizards 150-125.
Kawhi Leonard contributed with 31 points in the teams 150 as four of the Clippers players registered over 20 points on the night. While Paul Geroge scored 31 points, Montrezl Harrell and Lou Williams scored 23 and 22 points respectively coming off the bench.
George, who played alongside Carmelo Anthony during his time in Oklahoma City Thunder, was also happy to see his former team mate being back. However, he said he “hates the narratives that are created (by the media) by him being back.”
The Trail Blazers have won the last three games with Carmelo Anthony in the side and will be tested when they travel to Los Angeles on Tuesday to face a team who now have to 15 wins in the season.
