On Sunday, during the 5th ODI between India and Sri Lanka, Indian wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni successfully stumped Akila Dananjaya. With this dismissal, Dhoni successfully surpassed former Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara to hold the record for the most number of stumpings.

While reaching this particular record, he was on another record as well, his 301st ODI match. Mahi’s stumping century is unlikely to be beaten because, of all the active wicketkeepers, the only one closest to him is Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim on 40 stumpings.

Sangakkara remains as the most successful wicketkeeper with 482 dismissals including his 99 stumpings. The former India captain is 2nd on the list with 381 dismissals including his 100 stumpings. Most of his stumpings have come off the bowling of Harbhajan Singh (19).
