The Argentinian Legend feels that both are the same, but the Real Madrid star is a greater threat from distance.
Diego Maradona believes that it’s wrong to debate over Messi and Ronaldo as both the players are equally good, but he did point out that the Portugal international is a greater threat from outside the box.
The two best players in the World football are right at it again showing their best qualities in front of goal and otherwise. Ronaldo has netted 54 goals for Real Madrid in all competitions this season, just one more than Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
With only a few games left for both of them in the season, they will be creating history with every match ahead.
The two players will again be compared to each other as they have always been in the past, but Maradona feels that the argument is flawed.
“It’s not the case that Messi is better than Ronaldo, or Ronaldo is better than Messi. I think they are at the same level,” Maradona told Sky ports.
“Cristiano is a predator in front of goal. You can’t let Cristiano shoot anywhere in the opposition half. Goal keepers are scared of him. You have to be honest, goal keepers are scared of Cristiano. They are not so scared of Messi in those (outside the box) areas because he does not have the same power as Cristano.”
“Cristiano is an incredible professional. I think at this present time he’s right up there at Messi’s level.”
