Retired cricket legends Wasim Akram, Adam Gilchrist, Brian Lara and Jacques Kallis will playing in an all new T20 tournament called the Master Champions League.
The event will played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and was unveiled today at the Burj-al-Arab in Dubai. The event will be organised by GM Sports and Dean Jones’ company Major Events, which will be one of the biggest tournaments that the UAE will witness.
Dean Jones said, “This iconic tournament will be organized and played in the UAE for the next 10 years. Based on the T20 format, this will bring together some of the greatest iconic names that the game has ever seen.”
The announcement of the league comes shortly after the report that cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne are set to launch a new T20 league for former international cricketers over a three-and-a-half-year period, with the United States to host the first series in September.
The official release of Master Champions League (MCL) said, “A first of its kind, MCL is likely to involve veterans of cricket, in some capacity a number of high-profile former international cricketers from around the world. MCL has been formally approved by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), which makes it official for the International Cricket Council (ICC) as well.”
