Max Holloway Retains Feather-Weight Gold as Cris Cyborg Wins Dogfight

What a night for fight fans! UFC promised fireworks in Canada and it didn’t disappoint it’s fight fans all around the world. Starting with the main event of the evening, Max Holloway successfully defended his title against the future Hall of Famer, Frankie Edgar after a grueling fight.

Frankie gave his all with numerous takedown attempts and he even traded punches with Max Holloway for most of the fight but in the end, Max’s superior skillset in striking and phenomenal takedown defense was too much to deal with for the former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.

Both fighters started slowly in the first round, but they picked up the pace on the later rounds. Max hurt Edgar badly with a huge body kick at the end of the second round and carried that momentum throughout the fight. Edgar too had some moments in the fight when he secured a takedown in the 3rd and poured high volume of punches on Max in the 4th but overall the featherweight king dominated the fight using his reach, striking abilities and fight IQ to keep hurting Edgar with jabs, uppercuts, and right hands. With this fight, Max Holloway has conquered one more legend in his title reign and Frankie Edgar just showed the world, why he is one of the very best and beloved fighter in UFC.

Apart from the main event, the fight between Cris Cyborg and the Canadian undefeated fighter Felicia spencer also got the crowd at their edge of the seat. This was an absolute dogfight. Felicia had Cris hurt in the 1st round and gave her a massive cut on the forehead. But Cris Cyborg came back to the fight and went full ballistic on Felicia spencer, hitting her with brutal knees to the body, big punches to the head.

But to everyone’s surprise, Felicia Spencer ate all the haymakers Cyborg had to offer and kept moving forward. She had significant success in the clinches and showed amazing heart in the most important fight of her career, solidifying her place in the UFC women’s featherweight division. well, Cris cyborg won the fight via unanimous decision, but with her gutsy performance tonight Felicia Spencer has certainly grabbed a lot of attention of the fight fans. Post-fight , Cris Cyborg showed her interest in a rematch against the two-division champion Amanda Nunes.

In other matches of the evening, the welterweight prospect Geoff Neal won against Niko Price in a fight full of chaos and excitement. Arman Tsarukyan beat Canadian fighter Olivier Mercier and in a middleweight bout, Krzysztof Jotko beat Marc Barriault. And with a heartbreaking post-fight speech from Frankie Edgar with Joe Rogan, UFC 240 came to an end.
