Pakistan’s most successful test skipper, of all time, Misbah-Ul-Haq, expressed his feelings towards the disappeared India-Pakistan bilateral series. After a controversial remark from the limited overs skipper Sarfaraz Khan, Misbah too opened his views on the bilateral series between the neighbours. The “42 year young” has been in the role of skipper since 2010 and has tasted success including the test mace but is yet to lead his side in a series against India.

In a recent interview , Misbah said “These restrictions are because of politics and political issues between Pakistan and India. But I don’t think this should be the case as cricketers and fans are deprived of good contests.” He also added that “They, like us, can’t do anything because there are other issues involved here. I am sure when things improve politically there will be cricket between Pakistan and India.”

One of the positive things to happen for Pakistan cricket in recent years has been the success of Pakistan Super League. PSL has seen interest from various international cricketers and received huge support from the fans as well. Arranging a successful PSL final in Lahore was a feather in the cap for PSL and Pakistan Cricket Board. Talking about PSL and its comparison with IPL, Misbah said,”It is good that we now have our own league (like IPL) and it has been a major success in just two years. I am sure next year there will be more widespread interest in the Pakistan Super League from the people, sponsors and stakeholders. But I feel that since the IPL has now been there since 2007 people’s interest in it has dropped. I see more interest in our new league. There is always a saturation point for everything”

After these comments from the Pakistan skipper, it is also time for both the nations to keep aside and elude the political disputes to give a new life to the bilateral series lying on the death bed.The neighbours share a special history and their rivalry has always been the most loved.
