As the opening day comes closer and Aaron Judge heads toward his first appearance as the New York Yankees captain, there are still a few gaps left for the Yanks to fill. And amongst them is the position at second base, currently led by the two-time All-Star, Gleyber Torres. Torres, who has been with the Yanks since 2018, made All-Star appearances in the first two years of his MLB career.

However, the shortstop, who plays at second base for the Bronx Bombers, has performed poorly in the recent past. As a result, he’s become a victim to fan trolls.

A few hours ago, Talkin Yanks uploaded a video starring Gleyber Torres and somehow, this video helped turn his faith amidst the merciless Yankees crowd.

A special Gleyber Torres moment finds the hearts of New Yorkers

The adorable video featured Gleyber Torres and his almost 11-month-old son sharing a wholesome moment together. “Look at our second baseman,” captioned the Talkin Yanks.

Notably, Gleyber Torres married his long-term girlfriend Elizebath in 2017. On March 20th, 2022, the couple were blessed with their first son.

Without any doubt, the heartwarming moment won the heart of multiple New Yorkers, who went as far as asking the Yanks to extend his contract despite their earlier demands of letting him go.

This is how fans reacted:

Following excessive social media trolling and chatter, the 26-year-old stopped looking at social media to avoid the trolls from affecting his mental health and extension, his performance in the park.

How does the New York Yankees infield look ahead of Opening Day?

While the Yankees’ outfield carries the likes of Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, their infield may not be as esteemed. Barring the likes of Anthony Rizzo and Josh Donaldson at first and third base, the Yanks have major gaping holes at stop and second base with the poor form of Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Gleyber Torres and the inexperience of Oswaldo Peraza.
