Cashman has served in his active role since 1998. After taking up duty, Cashman ensured the Yankees remained a powerhouse. However, matters have slightly gone in the wrong direction for him and the team off-late.

New York Yankees general manager’s future stands under clouds

Andy Martino recently appeared on the ‘Bronx Pinstripes Show’ podcast. He talked about multiple topics related to MLB and the Yankees in particular.

Martino straightway cast uncertainty on Brian Cashman’s managerial role at the Yankees organization. To strengthen his logic, Martino primarily focused on the Yankees’ performances.

The Yankees have won four World Series championships under Cashman’s management so far. Three of those four trophies came consecutively in the first three years of his tenure. The fourth title victory came in 2009. After that, it’s been a long drought. The Yankees have even slipped down from dominant positions.

Speaking on the podcast, Martino said, “I don’t think it’s a sure thing that Brian Cashman is back next year. In fact, I know it’s not a sure thing. Yeah. I’m not trying to create a big story by saying Cashman might not be back. I’m just saying he’s not under contract.”

Martino also added, “So making a change is something that they have to do very, very carefully. Like, can we find someone else that’s going to bring us that kind of historic run of success, year in and year out. Having said all that, look, I think if you blow a 15 and a half game lead in the division, all bets are off.”

A look at the scene of possibility

One of the most talked-about matters in baseball now is Cashman’s inability to secure Aaron Judge’s contract. Moreover, the Yankees have had a wild slump in form after the mid-tournament break.

However, they reigned supreme in the first half. As a result, the team is still hanging on to the first rank in their league’s zonal division. So, this season’s outcome might finally determine Cashman’s future.
