Firing managers, general managers, or other managerial personnel is nothing new in the MLB world. This year several big franchises, including fired their members by holding them responsible for their season’s failure. However, The Astros season can’t be called a failure in any way. However, they recently lost the ALDS Game 2 against the Twins. Few hours after the game, the Astros parted ways with their general manager Bill Firkus.

Although, the team hasn’t released any official statements as of yet, according to The Athletic, the first-year GM Dana Brown acknowledged the move. On Monday morning, Dana confirmed, “We went in a different direction.”

Bill Firkus was with the team for a decade, serving in various roles throughout these years. Began as a medical analyst in 2013, and he reached the assistant GM role. Before that, Firkus was the senior director of baseball operations and director of sports medicine and performance departments. During last year’s December, he even performed responsibilities as the front office’s public-facing spokesman at the winter meetings.

The Astros Fired Their Farm Director
