MLB has seen some legendary players over the years. Many have broken records and achieved astonishing feats. One of these players is none other than legendary centerfielder Fred Lynn. He played the majority of his career with the Boston Red Sox and achieved some mind-boggling feats.

Over his 17-year career, Lynn piled up the accolades, picking up 9 All-Star appearances along with 4 Gold Glove titles. The Red Sox legend recently shared a massive update on his health after major surgery.

Boston Red Sox legend Fred Lynn is recovering well from double knee surgery

Fred Lynn has been enjoying his retirement from baseball but recently had a huge medical procedure done. The Red Sox legend announced that he was getting double partial knee replacement surgery last month via Twitter. He underwent the surgery recently and posted an update after his procedure. In a Tweet, he shared that the operation was successful and that he was feeling okay one day after it.

In the Tweet, Lynn said, “I beat up my new knees already. One day post surgery. Feeling OK. #operationsuccessful”. He also shared an image of his knees from before and after the operation was done.

Fans have reacted to his news and have shared their support for the Red Sox legend. Some wished him luck and others a pain-free recovery. But most fans had something positive to say in the hope that Lynn would recover quickly.

Luckily, Lynn is recovering well and seems healthy otherwise. One current Boston Red Sox star recently mourned the loss of a fan. But getting back to Lynn, fans may forget just how great a player he was since he retired 33 years ago. During the peak of his career, he made 9 consecutive All-Star appearances and also took home the AL MVP award. Furthermore, when he took home that MVP award, he created history.

Fred Lynn was the first player to win Rookie of the Year and MVP in the same season

In 1975, Fred Lynn had a historic season with the Boston Red Sox. According to MLB.com, “Lynn became the first player in history to be named Rookie of the Year and MVP in the same season.” Furthermore, he did so while helping the Red Sox reach the World Series.
