On March 6th, 2023, a routine pre-season game turned into a heart-stopping moment at Jet Blue Park. Justin Turner, the Boston Red Sox’s third baseman, found himself on the ground when a wayward pitch struck him in the face. He was rushed to the hospital and required 16 stitches to mend the facial lacerations, but thankfully, no fractures were detected. And the Red Sox slugger was eager to get back to the field as soon as he could.

Now, it appears that he has successfully moved beyond that frightening episode. Recently, his ‘Justin Turner Foundation’ was selected as the official charity for the Los Angeles marathon for the sixth year in a row. In fact, his wife, Kourtney Turner, even participated in the marathon.

When it comes to supporting each other, the Turner duo sets a remarkable example. Justin Turner recently shared a video of Kourtney on Instagram in a wholesome gesture. She was walking down a path with her medals clinking against each other. As she was a finisher of the marathon, she had not one, not two, but three medals around her neck, each representing a different charity that supported the marathon. In the caption, the slugger expressed how proud he was of her and that they needed a bigger trophy room.

The Justin Turner Foundation was founded by the couple together, so it’s a given that one of them takes a part in its ventures. It benefits homeless veterans, children battling life-altering illnesses, and various youth baseball organizations.

As for Justin’s return to baseball, the third baseman is back on his feet and is attending batting practice. However, he hasn’t attended a Spring Training game since his injury. But he’s set to serve as the designated hitter in the upcoming Grapefruit League game against the Pittsburgh Pirates!

Where did the couple’s journey begin? 

The couple began their journey in 2012 when Justin Turner was still a player for the New York Mets. The duo had a great first date together, something akin to the movies but sadly when the athlete was in LA for an event. However, with Kourtney living in LA and Justin playing for the Mets in New York, the two had to manage the long distance.  

But despite that, the two were going strong throughout the years. In 2014, the athlete signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Since the distance between them was no longer an issue, the two were finally together and in 2017, they got married in Mexico, in beautiful San Jose del Cabo.
