MLB Fans Go Wild as Justin Verlander’s Unanimous Win Sees Kate Upton’s Viral Tweet Resurface 6 Years Later

Justin Verlander has won this year’s American League Cy Young Award. Following on, his supermodel wife, Kate Upton, has gone trending online. That too, for a tweet from long back in 2016. Consequently, MLB fans have erupted into laughter on social media. 

Verlander won the award after receiving all 30 first-place votes. Thus making him the unanimous prize-winner. While Dylan Cease came second, Alek Manoah at third, Shohei Ohtani at fourth, and Framber Valdez fifth. The award came as the icing on the cake for Verlander after he recently won the World Series with the Houston Astros.

However, alongside the news of Verlander’s achievement, Upton’s resurfacing tweet has created quite some buzz. The tweet was from when Verlander lost out on votes for the Cy Young Award. The fans have found the tweet to be rather amusing. 

When Kate Upton stood up for Justin Verlander 

Justin Verlander has won the prestigious Cy Young Award three times to date. He won the award for the first time in 2011 and was in the running in 2016. But he missed out on the award after losing out to Rick Porcello. So Kate Upton, who is an avid baseball follower, expressed her disappointment over the issue on Twitter.

Upton posted on her Twitter account in 2016, quoting, “Hey @MLB I thought I was the only person allowed to f*ck @JustinVerlander?! What 2 writers didn’t have him on their ballot?” 

Starting 9 networks shared Upton’s post on Twitter quoting, “Congrats to Justin Verlander on yet another Cy Young Award.” 

One fan replied, by writing, “Classic tweet. He really should have 4 now.”  

Another fan wrote, “This is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.”  

Yet another fan wrote, “That is an all time great tweet.” 

One more fan wrote, “Still one of the best sports tweets of all time.”

The 39-year-old ace, Verlander, made his MLB debut with the Detroit Tigers in 2005. He joined the Astros in 2017 and has won two World Series trophies since then. Additionally, he is a nine-time All-Star player. This year, Verlander made 28 starts registering an 18-4 win-loss record with a 1.75 ERA.
