Expect the unexpected! Game 6 of the National League Championship Series last night in Philadelphia drew to a close with the home team suffering a heartbreaking loss. The Philadelphia Phillies, touted as favorites to win, were defeated. In a dramatic turn of events, the Arizona Diamondbacks outclassed them 5-1 in front of a 45,473-strong home crowd. With this, the Championship Series stands at 3 a piece, hanging in balance with only a single game to decide the fates of both teams.

With this defeat, the Phillies are set to face the first Game 7 in their history. Although before the match, they seemed pretty confident in their win as one of their star players arrived at the Citizen’s Bank Park in an outfit with a hidden message.

Bryce Harper has been the go-to man for the Philadelphia Phillies for quite a while now. The 31-year-old designated hitter is considered by many to go down as a legend of the game. With impressive postseason performances, Harper has gained the attention of baseball fans worldwide. However, the ball just doesn’t stop rolling at that.

As of late, Bryce Harper has also turned himself into a fashion icon of sorts. The Las Vegas native has been observed dressing in the slickest of outfits, including the NLDS Game 4 against the Atlanta Braves where Harper was seen donning a stylish powder blue suit. Something similar happened recently on the eve of the NLCS Game 6 against the DBacks when Harper appeared in an all-black outfit. Fashionable as it was, it also held a deeper message.

Per fans, the all-black outfit Harper chose to dress himself in was representative of the D-Backs funeral as a win would have secured Harper’s Phillies a place in the World Series, knocking the Diamondbacks out of contention. However, all the messaging seems to have fallen flat after the result.

What do the fans make of it?

Even though the Phillies suffered a loss and all the messaging seemed to be of no avail, many fans still chimed in with their takes. On deciphering the message successfully, one fan commented “It’s customary to wear black to a funeral”.

Many of them, being Harper fans, were surely impressed by the hitter’s outfit. One said, “The Harper home field fits always hit different 💯

While another fan, also seemingly impressed with Harper’s fashion sense, commented “Harper has been wearing nice outfits to the games

However, one person pointed out the irony by saying, “This didn’t age well,” to highlight how all the pre-game bravado ended up being of no use.
