

Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez has had a career of excellence. Throughout his 22-season-long MLB career and after, he has earned the respect of his fans and teammates. Moreover, his humble beginnings have made him a sensation amongst the American masses. However, after doping allegations against him in 2009, his popularity started to witness a downward slope.

Notably, A-Rod’s name came out in a list of 104 players that had tested positive for banned substances in MLB. Eventually, he faced consequences for his steroid usage when he received a one-season-long suspension in 2014.
A-Rod vulnerably opens up about his PED suspension
In an interview with Vanity Fair, A-Rod spoke about the time Tony Clark, head of their union, called and told him about the suspension.

A-Rod said, “I was hoping the suspension would be shorter. I remember when Tony Clark, the head of our union, called me and said, ‘It’s a full season—it’s 162 [games],’ it was a knife to my ribs.”
A-Rod goes on to talk about the impact the suspension had on him. He said, “I thought I’d played my last game. I grew a beard—as much as I can grow it—and didn’t want to see anyone, including my kids.”

Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez made his MLB debut with the Seattle Mariners in 1994. He played with the Mariners for six years and then moved to the Texas Rangers. Finally, for the most fruitful and glorious segment of his career, A-Rod came to the Yankees setup in 2004. A-Rod has had an extremely long list of achievements throughout his career.
Starting from 14 All-Star appearances to ten Silver Slugger and two Golden Glove Awards, the shortstop and baseman also won three American League MVP awards, four AL Hank Aaron awards, and a World Championship in 2009.

Palpably, A-Rod has achieved it all. However, till today, the biggest miss of his career will remain to be his absence from the Hall of Fame, crediting his steroid scandal.
