Right when the Philadelphia Phillies got back on the track, they suffered a massive blow on Saturday. The Phillies slugger and reigning NL MVP, Bryce Harper suffered a thumb injury against the San Diego Padres. Notably, Harper has been the best player for the Phillies, and it will hurt like hell to the Phillies after missing out on their star player on the plate.
Earlier this month, the Phillies had fired their manager Joe Girardi for poor performances in the current season. And under the guidance of their new manager, the Phillies were finally enjoying a wonderful run in the National League. But losing their star performer for an indefinite time is not good news for the Phillies.

Per CBS Sports, Harper suffered a thumb injury against a hit-by-pitch from the Padres pitcher Blake Snell. Snell’s pitch directly hit on Harper’s hand. Though Snell did not hit Harper intentionally, the Phillies fans are blaming the Padres pitcher for hurting their star player.
The Phillies slugger Bryce Harper is out for an indefinite time
After getting hit by Snell’s pitch, Bryce Harper left the ballpark immediately. The video of the same is doing rounds on the internet. One can see Harper crying in pain after getting hit by the nasty pitch. However, the Padres pitcher apologized for his wayward pitch to Harper.

Taking to Twitter, the Phillies fans expressed their frustration after Harper suffered the injury to his left thumb.
One fan predicted that if Harper has broken his thumb, then he will miss the rest of the league games. And if things go his way, Harper might be able to make a comeback in the playoffs. Another Phillies fan said that it’s a shame that Bryce Harper is on the injured list. Because he has been the best DH in the National League.
Its its broken maybe he could come back for a late season run at the playoffs. I doubt we will be in it without Bryce.

I know most won’t like this but I enjoy Bryce Harper. It’s a shame to see him on the IL with that broken thumb. Would’ve been the NL’s DH in the ASG. #RingTheBell

Scott Lauber of the Philly Inquirer shared interesting data. He wants the Phillies to use the same strategy the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres used after missing out on their star players to injuries.
Braves went 44-29 last season after Ronald Acuña Jr. got injured. Padres are 45-28 this season without Fernando Tatis Jr. Phillies will have to figure it out somehow without their best player now that Bryce Harper is out with broken left thumb.

What’s next for the Phillies?
The Phillies are on a wonderful run in the National League. After sacking Girardi, they have won 15 out of 21 games in June. They have been the second-best team in the National League after the Atlanta Braves.

But, it is still difficult for the Phillies to even think of winning the NL Pennants. Because teams like the New York Mets, LA Dodgers, and San Diego Padres, are in a far better position than the Philadelphia Phillies. So, even with a healthy Bryce Harper by their side, the Phillies stand no chance of winning the NL Pennant.
