Derek Jeter is a baseball player who etched his name into the very fabric of the sport. Throughout a 20-year MLB career with the New York Yankees, Jeter established himself as one of the greatest shortstops. He left behind a legacy as a player who fought hard to compete and did anything to improve his game.

After retiring, Jeter did anything he could to take care of his urge to compete. Since he could not play baseball, the Yankees legend developed his interest in another sport: golf. However, adapting to a new sport did not go very well for the Pinstripes icon. In 2016, Jeter revealed his frustrations playing a new sport that he’d been trying out.

What sport was Derek Jeter frustrated playing?

In an interview with the Associated Press that was released in 2016, Derek Jeter detailed his frustrations while playing golf. After competing in a pro-am tournament with Rickie Fowler, this is what Jeter had to say. “It’s probably the most frustrating thing I’ve done, because the ball’s not moving, man. You should be able to hit it. I can hit it. It just doesn’t go where I want it to go,” said Jeter in 2016.

Although Jeter was frustrated with his progress, he also seemed rather determined to improve, saying “So yeah, I guess I’m addicted to improve. That’s the best way to put it.”

Jeter had been playing golf for 2 years at the time, seemingly picking up the sport after his retirement from baseball. The former Yankee was addicted to the sport and wanted to do anything he could to improve technically. Once a champion, always a champion, and that applies to Derek Jeter, too.

What else has Jeter been doing since retiring?

From September 2017 to February 2022, Jeter served as CEO of the Miami Marlins. And owned an ownership stake in the Florida-based baseball team as well.

Earlier this year, Jeter stepped down from the role and sold that ownership stake as well. In a statement that he released when resigning, Jeter said that the vision had changed from what he’d signed up for. Apart from this, Jeter has also launched a card grading and storage vault platform called Club Arena with entrepreneur Brian Lee. Jeter announced his involvement with Club Arena in September this year.
