A source close to the couple stated, “Alex had been shopping around for the right ring for the past seven months, he knew for a long time that he wanted to propose to Jennifer.”

The source further added saying, “He wanted to get it right. The proposal has been a long time coming, Alex knew she was the one and has been painstakingly planning everything. But when it came to the big moment, he didn’t tell anyone, none of his friends or family, and not even Benny (Medina, J.Lo’s long-term and trusted manager). He wanted it to be quiet and personal.” 

The present state of the royal affair 

Engaged in 2019, ‘A-Rod and Lopez were supposed to get married in 2020. But the proceedings didn’t go according to plan, as the celebrity couple separated in 2021. Post-breakup, Lopez soon got engaged to actor Ben Affleck, and they are now married. On the other hand, ‘A-Rod’ is a devoted single father to his two daughters with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis.
