It was one of those rare days when two legends were in the same room. Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez and Derek Jeter were once best of friends but then drifted apart.

These two came together on Michael Ray and A-Rod’s podcast, KayRod cast to talk about the fiercest rivalry of baseball in the form of the Yankees v/s Red Sox.  Both the teams fought at Fenway Park, and Red Sox took the win with them on Sunday night.

It was a treat to watch the two legends in the same room, and they talked about many things other than the rivalry between the Yankees and the Red Sox. Things included what helped A-Rod to come out of his stuck phase.

How was Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez struck?

Alex Rodriguez started playing for the New York Yankees in 2004. Since then, he has broken many records and has won many awards as well. In his career of 22 seasons of playing baseball, he has in total hit 696 homers.

There was a time when he got stuck at 599 and was struggling to complete the landmark of 600 for about a week. Then the legend who came to help him was none other than, ‘The Captain’ Derek Jeter.

A-Rod said“I was stuck at 599 home runs, and I was stuck at it for a week. We’re in the hydro room. It’s a day game… Hydro room is where we have like pools, we have the jacuzzi, right by the locker room, and I think Derek sensed that I was pressing a little bit, and Derek is like, he always waits for the room to clear when he wants to talk to you alone. He goes, ‘Come here’. He goes first at-bat, just maybe bunt.”

He continued, “And I got my first at-bat, I went for the bunt, it wasn’t a good pitch. Then two pitches later, 2-0 pitch, boom, I get a 2-0 cutter, and I hit a home run. He further continued, “He’s at home plate, he goes, ‘I told you, I told you’, and that helped me get 600.”

Are Jeter and Rodriguez friends now?

The reality of their situation is known by those two only. But it certainly looked like they have patched things up.

A-Rod thanked Derek for helping him get out of his block, and to his, Jeter gave him a salty reply. While laughing, he said, “I’m glad he gives me credit for it 20 years later.”

Jeter also said that it would have been even better if he thanked me for it then only.
