Alex Rodriguez was probably the best hitter from the plate during his playing days. Be it for the Yankees, Rangers, or be it for the Mariners, A-Rod was a proper box office in the ballparks. He was on course to become one of the greatest baseball players.
However, it is a pity that A-Rod’s one mistake has cost him his legacy in the game. Notably, MLB found A-Rod guilty of using steroids during the early days of his baseball career. And this PEDs (performance-enhancing drugs) scandal cost him a legacy he had built over two decades.

Going back to the time when A-Rod made his comeback after completing his PEDs suspension, even the then-Yankees slugger felt guilty about what he did years ago. Not to forget, Alex lost an entire year of his MLB career because of this scandal.
Former Yankee Alex Rodriguez paid the price for his mistakes
Had MLB not banned Alex Rodriguez for over a year, he probably would have broken several records in the game. And maybe he would have also played for a couple more years. But destiny had something else for the Yankees slugger.

When A-Rod returned from the ban, he admitted his mistakes to the media. The former Yankee also thanked the Pinstripes organization for allowing him to play baseball again.
“Right now, I’m just focused on making this team,” he said. “Obviously, it was a rough year. Look, I cringe at some of the things I did, but I did my penalty.”

“No mistake that I’ve made has any good answer. There’s no good answer. It’s unexplainable. I’ve dug a big hole for myself. I paid a price. I’m grateful to a lot of people, the Commissioner’s office, the union, the Yankees to give me the opportunity to play the game I love.”
The MLB ban has also cost A-Rod’s chance to get into the Hall of Fame. While players like Derek Jeter and David Ortiz have stamped their names in the Hall of Fame induction, Alex Rodriguez might never get the honor.
