With spring training just a couple of weeks away, the twist and turns of the off-season are about to end as well. Notably, the free agency of the New York Yankees’ captain Aaron Judge was indeed one of the hottest topics of the season. In the end, Yankees fans beamed joy when Judge decided to return to the Bronx after considering offers from various clubhouses. Aside from the baseball fans, many other people are also happy with All Rise’s decision

Former world champ Darryl Strawberry is one of those people. Strawberry was also an important figure in Derek Jeter‘s life as a mentor who supported him for a long time. The former right fielder, who won three of his four world series rings with the Yanks, recently supported the Judge’s decision to stay as a Yankee.

Recently, during the “Pinstripe Pride” event at American Dream in East Rutherford, N.J., the pinstripe icons signed autographs. Therein, the ex-athlete spoke about Aaron Judge making the right decision to stay in the Bronx for the rest of his career.

“I’m glad (Judge) made the right decision,” said Strawberry, as reported by the New York Post.  

The former World champ also said that playing in New York differs from other clubhouses. He stated the reason behind it is the fans. Because they understand the game better than the rest of the fan bases, the reason they expect the most and boo the players when they fail to achieve it. He said so while pointing to the fact that the fanbase booed Judge as he could not show his outstanding performance last year in the post-season.

Is All Rise similar to the former world champ?

Like Strawberry, BAJ also won the title of Rookie of the Year. The difference is Judge did it playing for an American League side, whereas Strawberry did it for a National League side.

Judge still has to cover a lot of experience in the upcoming years. And who knows, now that he is the Pinstripes captain, Judge can finally end the title drought in the Bronx.
