New York Yankees Captain Aaron Judge Addresses Rumors on a New Fielding Role Which He Never Had Since College

Aaron Judge is coming off a fantastic 2022 season in which he won the AL MVP award. Many expect the New York Yankees star to perform similarly to that level in the upcoming season as well. Judge was fantastic on the offensive side of the game, excelling at power-hitting. He showed his defensive capabilities as well, with great athleticism and reaction time for his towering 6’7” frame.
Judge may learn some new things in Spring Training as he gears up for the new season and his first as captain. There was news that Judge may play a new position this season. According to the latest reports, the Yankee star is open to playing this new position if it helps the team.
Aaron Judge is open to playing left field to make way for Giancarlo Stanton at right field

The New York Yankees said that they’re planning to play Aaron Judge in left field for parts of this season. They are doing this to allow Giancarlo Stanton to play in the right field. Most recently, Judge opened up on the news and stated that he was open to the position change. This is despite the fact that he has not played in the left field since college. ESPN’s Marly Rivera reported Judge’s statement.
Aaron Judge just said that he told the #Yankees “If we need to get Big D in RF at Yankee Stadium, I don’t mind it.” Said that despite not playing LF since college he’d be fine taking a few reps.

This will be big for the Yankees as Judge will provide much-needed cover in the left field position. Left field is one position where the New York-based team is weak. Many fans have been clamoring for the Yankees to sign a new left fielder.
Aaron Hicks had a down season at the left field position last year
The reason that Aaron Judge playing left field is so big is that Aaron Hicks had a poor year in the position in 2022. Many fans have wanted the Yankees to give up on Hicks and sign a left fielder to replace him. Instead of doing that, the team is going to cover some of those games with Judge in the left field.
