Seattle Mariners Infielder Stays in Game After Avoiding a Possibly Devastating Incident

The 2023 MLB season has season a variety of incidents taking place. From players suffering season-ending injuries, to close calls, it has been a brutal year thus far. Most recently, a Seattle Mariners infielder avoided a close call during their latest game. Furthermore, he even stayed in the game and continued playing despite the dangerous incident. 

Fans have blamed the pitch clock for certain pitcher-related injuries. Some believe that the rush to throw the ball results in more incidents. This most recent occurrence was a close call. Luckily, the Mariners player was able to remain on the field without any serious injury.

Seattle Mariners infielder Ty France avoids a pitch to the head in a dangerous incident

There has been an alarming number of batters taking pitches to the head this season. Most recently, Mariners infielder Ty France avoided a close call against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In the bottom of the 5th, Pirates pitcher Mitch Keller launched a running fastball otherwise known as a two-seamer. It moved inward and nearly struck France on the head, but he was able to swerve out of the way. Luckily, the ball only tipped the Mariner’s infielders helmet off of his head. Codify shared a video of the incident on Twitter.

In a Tweet, they said, “really scary moment but ty france stayed in the game”. Although France was not hurt, he did appear to be slightly dazed. Luckily, he showed incredible reflexes and avoided a potentially dangerous injury.

Earlier in the season, Justin Turner was hit by a ball in the face and ended up with 16 stitches. Turner’s face was gushing blood after the injury, but luckily, he avoided any internal injuries. The Mariners ended up losing the game 11-6, taking their win-loss record to 26-25.

What have experts predicted for the Mariners this season?

Expectations were high for the Seattle Mariners coming into the 2023 season. Many experts and analysts have predicted another postseason appearance and possibly contending for the World Series. But the season has started on a rough note with results not going their way. There is still a lot of the season left to play and they have a chance to turn it around in the AL West. Only time will tell if we will see the Mariners and their new home run celebration in the postseason.
