Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles might be having a poor season in 2022, but these American League rivals did something so incredible in the ballpark which left everyone emotional. Yes! In a recent game against the Orioles, the Chicago White Sox allowed a 7-year-old cancer patient to throw the ceremonial first pitch and run around the bases in the ballpark.
The 7-year-old White Sox fan will remember this moment for his lifetime. Not only the White Sox, but the Orioles also greeted and honored 7-year-old Beau Dowling for his incredible sportsmanship. Even though Dowling’s favorite team, the White Sox, failed to win against the Orioles, he fulfilled his dream to play for his favorite baseball team.

Beau Dowling’s journey to fight against cancer is nothing but an inspiration to many people. He has been a fighter since his birth. First, Dowling battled with high-risk neuroblastoma as a toddler and now the 7-year-old has thyroid cancer.

As Billy Beane says, “How can you not be romantic about baseball?” Such beautiful gestures make this game even more beautiful. Even the rival fans would have cheered for the White Sox for allowing a 7-year-old kid to fulfill his dream to play for his favorite baseball team.

Per MLB.com, Dowling underwent surgery to fight against thyroid cancer earlier this month. Trey Mancini of the Baltimore Orioles — who has also defeated cancer — shared a few words to encourage Beau Dowling. Mancini said he felt incredible to be part of something so meaningful.
“I wanted to go over there after he ran the bases and just tell him that he was awesome. I told him that I had cancer two years ago and I’m doing just fine now. And I know the same thing is gonna happen to him too. I just wanted him to know that,” the Orioles star said.
