WATCH: Hilarious On-Field Mix-Up Involving a Stool Costs the New York Mets During the Game Against Texas Rangers

New York Mets have emerged as a surprise package in the ongoing MLB season. Under the leadership of visionary manager Buck Showalter, the Mets have played exceptionally well this season. And that too when two marquee players have missed out on most games because of injuries.

But the Mets manager has kept his team together and maintained the consistency of the team throughout the season. If not for the last ten games, the Buck Showalter-led team has the best record in the National League.

Recently, during the last game of a three-game series against the Texas Rangers, a mix-up in the ballpark would have cost the Mets big time. However, this did not affect the game for the Mets, as they sealed the game.

The Rangers infielder, Brad Miller, was on the plate to face the Mets pitcher Carlos Carrasco. This incident involves two more Mets players, Dom Smith, and Luis Guillorme. When Carrasco tossed the pitch to Miller, he hit it towards Smith.

Smith tried his best to grab the ball. He even dropped his gloves while taking a jump to grab the ball. Now, the best part of the play happened. After watching Smith fail to grab the baseball, another Mets star, Luis Guillorme, ran towards the ball to collect and throw it to the base. But the struggle continued, as baseball got deflected after hitting a stool near the wall.

Till then, the Rangers had completed their run. Taking to Twitter, SNY Sports shared the video of this hilarious mix-up at the Citi Field. Even commentators had a good laugh at this incident.

Luckily, it did not affect the game for the Mets. Not only did they win the game by 4-1 but also clinched the three-game series against the Rangers.

What’s next for the Mets?

In the absence of their two starting pitchers, Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom, the New York Mets have been rock solid from the mound. And if reports are true, then the two will join the active roster soon.
